Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals.
Baptisms:
Whenever it happens, whether as a baby, child or adult, baptism is at the heart of an amazing journey of faith as a follower of Jesus Christ. You are never too old to take this step, and being baptized as an adult is a wonderful experience.
You may have been baptized at a christening when you were a child or in a different Christian tradition, and there are always special ways to renew the promises that were made then in a fresh way as you discover more about what it means to live them out in your life.
There will be a special service where you will be baptized. Here at Christ Church we have a special pool and adults can be fully immersed in the water. This is truly a joyous occasion for all your loved ones to attend and enjoy.
We also offer traditional christenings for babies and young children.
Weddings:
Marrying in church is personal, meaningful, spiritual and beautiful, just as you want it to be.
Whether you plan to get married in a couple of years or in just a few months, here at Christ Church we can help you through the process of booking and planning the ceremony.
The vows that you make are at the heart of your wedding day and have been spoken by millions of couples over the centuries. They can not be re-written or changed in any way for legal reasons – they are the words of commitment to a shared life that define you as ‘married’.
These vows are unique to church weddings. By making these promises in church, you invite a loving and profoundly caring God to help you keep them.
Your Vicar may offer sessions at the church, the vicarage, or sometimes another venue to help you prepare for the day. This is a good chance to think about your vows and the difference they will make. The official vows cover all those things we hope for from a good marriage and are legally binding, so they can not be changed. However, there may be some special, additional things you and your partner want to say to each other in this setting.
Some couples have done this by writing something as an additional reading, or using poetry or an extract from a book to say those things in a personal way. The vicar can advise you on how your ideas could work well as part of the service.

Funerals:
When someone dies, there is so much to think about and so much to organise. We understand how difficult this can be, but here at Christ Church we can help you say your final goodbye in a way that really helps.
Wherever you choose to have a funeral, it will reflect the unique life of the person you knew. Whatever will help to make the funeral special – music, hymns, readings, tributes, even the type of coffin – can be part of a Church of England funeral. Talk to our vicar about what is possible. We’re with you every step of the way.
Talk to our vicar about any ideas you might have. Tell them all about the person you knew and loved and they can offer suggestions for special ways to make it personal.
There's so much to think about when organising a funeral, but God is with you and your church will help you through it.
The vicar here at Christ Church has lots of experience in talking about the big questions of life and death. Anything you ask or say will be in confidence. If these are things you want to talk about, get in touch, or come along to a church service to find out more.
